5 Ways to Reduce Anxiety During A Crisis

There are millions who suffer from anxiety and you may be feeling triggered by the reality of being unprepared during this recent current global upheaval. There may be guilt & shame surrounding the reality that many feel afraid and unprepared .

Here are 5 ways we can all reduce our anxiety during a crisis.

  • Boundaries 🚧 - Filter your f*cking media consumption!!! Set boundaries such as a time limit on how much you watch/read everyday. Be informed but not afraid.

  • Grounding 👣- Find a one minute guided breathing exercise on Youtube (here is 1 of my favorites -> ), stand outside and get 10-15 minutes of Sun, or light a candle for aromatherapy.

  • Connect 🧘🏾‍♀️ - Use this time to reconnect with friends you haven’t had time to catch up with (schedule a Zoom happy hour or girls night), connect with yourself. Is there a book you've been wanting to read? (I just finished Children of Virtue & Vengeance) Or rest yourself, just don’t rest your way into an exes DMs.

  • Laugh 🤣 - Watch something that makes you laugh til your side hurts. Make a folder with all of your favorite memes, watch funny movies, or babies eating lemons. We know that laughter releases endorphins, aka feel good hormones, and we could use those in abundance right now.

  • Hold space 🤲🏾 - Give yourself permission to feel your way thru every emotion. What we are collectively experiencing is not normal, and your emotional response to it may not be as well. Is it okay to not feel productive? Absolutely. If all you have the energy to do each day is breathe and stay home, you have done enough.

Reassure yourself with a truth about the present.

✨"I am safe from all harm. I am secure in my home. I am grounded.”✨
